Dr Hasse Hällström

Associated Researcher

Hasse holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh. In addition to building and maintaining the project website, he researches radical philosophes’ conception of religion as deception. He has published research related to the earlier projects in which he has worked in Journal of Early Modern Studies, Intellectual History Review, Diametros, and International Philosophical Quarterly. His publications also include a co-edited volume with Anna Tomaszewska, The Sources of Secularism: Enlightenment and Beyond (Palgrave 2017).

Dr. Mario Pati

Postdoctoral Researcher

Mario Pati is Assistant Professor at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and a member of the research team working on Enlightenment and publicity. He received his PhD from the University of Turin (FINO Convention) with a thesis on Kant's conception of philosophy as a doctrine of wisdom. Prior to that, he graduated from the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. In 2025, he won the Silvestro Marcucci Prize, awarded by the Italian Society of Kant Studies (SISK) for the best Kantian paper. Among his publications, he has a monograph on Hegel, published in Italian with the title Hegel e la logica della filosofia. Concetto, realtà, sistema (Studium, Roma 2021)."

Dr. Hab. Anna Tomaszewska

Principal Investigator

Anna Tomaszewska is the PI in the research team at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. In the project, she works on superstition and enthusiasm in religion, science, and public life against the background of Kant’s idea of enlightenment. Anna has published Kant’s Rational Religion and the Radical Enlightenment: From Spinoza to Contemporary Debates (Bloomsbury 2022), edited Between Secularization and Reform: Religion in the Enlightenment (Brill 2022), and co-edited The Sources of Secularism: Enlightenment and Beyond (Palgrave 2017).
